About GCA Modesto & Central Valley
The Modesto & Central Valley Chapter of Gurbat Cultural Association serves Afghan diaspora communities across California’s Central Valley—home to a vibrant and growing Afghan population in Modesto, Stockton, Fresno, Turlock, and surrounding communities.
Eng. Mahmood Ahmadi served as a member of the Board of Directors of Gurbat Cultural Association San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. However, as new settlements of Afghan populations increased in Modesto and other cities in the vicinity and Central Valley, Mr. Ahmadi established a local chapter of the Central Valley and served as chapter leader, helping establish a strong foundation for Afghan families throughout the region.
In 2025, the chapter held elections and elected Feda Mohammad Aminzai as its new chapter leader, with responsibility to represent the organization at Gurbat General Body meetings. The Board of Directors includes Feda Mohammad Aminzai, Mohammad Ajmal Mayar, Mohammad Akram Zaki, Mohammad Nabi Mokhles, Naquibullah Halim, Mohammad Ajmal Rahimzai, and Eng. Mahmood Ahmadi.
As a local chapter of the Afghan Diaspora Center, we focus on cultural preservation, youth empowerment, native-language education, and comprehensive support services for Afghan families settling and thriving in the Central Valley.
We bring together families, youth, and elders to celebrate heritage, strengthen community bonds, and ensure that Afghan culture and identity endure for generations to come.
